...this was a good romance with an interesting story. It's a great, quick read that historical romance lovers will really enjoy!
A Bookish Affair
From the opening narration, I was hooked into the simple, but heartwarming plot. There are a few passionate love scenes, which I was a bit surprised to find in a novella, but it added more depth and realism to Erik and Anne’s relationship. Home Fires is a sweet, fast-paced read that should satisfy all historical romance readers.
Rambling from a Coffee Addicted Writer
A new WW II romance from Jana Richards is always a treat, and this one is no exception. Set in Jana’s home country of Canada, the story provides a nice look at life on a farm in the time period before and just after the war...All in all, Home Fires is a fun, worthwhile read, whether or not one is drawn to the war era. A couple of shall we say ‘hot’ love scenes came as a surprise as the action moved gently along, but the reviewer survived with a minimum of blushes.
Home Fires comes highly recommended. Read it. You’ll like it.
Romancing the Book
Home Fires by Jana Richards is a historical romance with a good premise and well constructed prose. It’s short so most of the story is told quickly but the main characters are well developed and have an easily discernible connection. If you are looking for a short, light story for a cold winter’s night, this one will fit the bill.

Audiobook reviews for Home Fires
I really enjoyed this short audiobook. It was well written and entertaining, not mushy like regular romance novels. Steve Wojtas was a fine narrator.
Deedra’s Reviews - Goodreads
This short listen can be classified as historical romance set mostly post WWII. Young English woman leaves home to meet her Canadian fiancee at his home. Surprises abound when she arrives and the roller coaster ride begins. An almost sweet listen.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Steve Wojtas.

I loved this story. All of the characters together made it a great listen. It is short with several twists and turns but they all weave the story into a great one.

A sweet and engaging story of the residual damage of war and the discoveries of a place to live and love.
Loved the narrator’s voice...excellent job with both sexes of voice.

Richards did a great job with this novel! I enjoyed the character development and had a lot of laughter while reading it. It was a bit hard to find it come to an end as I felt it was a little short. But overall I had an amazing time with this novel… The narration was smooth without any editing issues I could tell. Loved the voice of the narrator as well! I hope to hear him in future works.
The Book Addict’s Reviews
This (audio)book was kind of a hidden gem. Both the author and narrator were new to me, but I'm so happy to have come across this book and have gotten the chance to listen to it…The writing was really good. The story might have been short but it had good character development with a strong leading lady who I really liked and a troubled leading man who under the gruff exterior was a good guy even if there were those moments that you wanted to shake him. This story had a steady and easy pace that kept me interested, and a great ending. It had all those important things I look for in a romance. And to add to it, the narrator had one of those voices that was so smooth but entertaining and everything that makes me want to remember his name and go look for other books by him so I can listen to that voice again and again.
