#MFRWhooks Blog Hop - An Excerpt from SEEING THINGS - Leah's Nightmare

Happy Blog Hop Day! Today I'm sharing another excerpt from SEEING THINGS, my paranormal romantic suspense. In this scene, Leah speaks to Detective Hampton about her nightmare, the one where she sees a vision of the dangerous man who kidnapped a small boy:

Red roses and pearls with elegant text: "Book Hooks" and "Marketing for Romance Writers." Romantic and luxurious ambiance.

Excerpt:

"Hi." Leah stood in Grant Hampton's office doorway with two paper cups of coffee and a bag of bagels in her hands. "Can I come in? I come bearing gifts."

Grant took a cup from her hand and smiled. "You're welcome anytime. Especially when you bring something that tastes better than the swill they make around here." He opened the cup and took a sip, watching her over the rim. "You're here early. Is there any particular reason, aside from wanting to treat your favorite cop?"

She hesitated, weighing her words as she set a bagel and a small container of cream cheese in front of Grant. She found she didn't have the appetite to eat her own.

"I had a dream last night, more of a nightmare really. I dreamt about the third man." Her hand shook as she set her coffee on Grant's desk. "It kind of spooked me. I didn't want to stay in my house by myself so I came here."

Grant's brow formed three vertical lines. "How do you mean it spooked you?"

"This man is dangerous, Grant. Jeremy is in real danger now, I can feel it. And if Bill Strongfield is also involved, I think he's is in trouble, too. This third man is capable of almost anything." She closed her eyes and suppressed a shudder. "I got a good look at him. Maybe I could use the database to find him."

"Leah, wait a minute. Obviously you're upset right now. David Logan was pretty hard on you yesterday. Maybe you should go home and try to get some rest."

"No! I can't do that. We have to find them. Time is running out. Please Grant, help me."

She knew she sounded hysterical but she couldn't escape the panic that kept building with each passing moment. She needed to do something to find Jeremy. She couldn't wait around at home for another vision. By then it might be too late.

Woman stands in snow, facing a lit cabin under a purple sky with large eyes. Text: Jana Richards, Seeing Things. Eerie mood.

Blurb:

When psychic Leah McKenna “sees” the abduction of a small boy, she knows she must help find him, no matter how much she longs for a normal life without visions. And no matter the danger to herself. David Logan, the boy’s uncle, doesn’t believe in psychic phenomenon. He believes Leah knows who kidnapped his nephew. He plans to stick close to her to discover the boy’s whereabouts. As they search for Jeremy, they uncover truths about themselves, the past, and the way they feel about each other. Can Leah convince David her visions, and her love for him, are real? And can they find Jeremy before time runs out for all of them?

Too much knowledge can be a curse.

Excellent scene, Jana.

I can't imagine what it must be like to have visions and to know things that others don't. A definite curse.

I like this lady, too! She's afraid but that doesn't stop her from searching for the child.

I like Leah's determination. She sees something that the others don't see. I hope Grant helps her.

Grant definitely helps her. But what they learn makes the search for the kidnapped boy even more dangerous. Thanks for stopping by Pat!
