#MFRWhooks Blog Hop - #ParanormalRomanticSuspense SEEING THINGS - I Saw Your Dream

Happy Blog Hop Wednesday! I've just republished my #ParanormalRomanticSuspense SEEING THINGS and I'll be featuring snippets from it for the month of October.

Red roses and a pearl necklace set against a dark background. Text reads "Book Hooks" and "Marketing for Romance Writers," creating a romantic theme.

Here's the blurb for SEEING THINGS:

When psychic Leah McKenna “sees” the abduction of a small boy, she knows she must help find him, no matter the danger to herself. David Logan, the boy’s uncle, doesn’t believe in psychic phenomenon. He believes Leah knows who kidnapped his nephew, and plans to stick close to her to discover the truth. As they search for Jeremy they uncover truths about themselves and the way they feel about each other. Can Leah convince him her visions, and her love for him, are real before time runs out for all of them?

In this scene, using her psychic powers, Leah has just led David to the home of David's estranged brother-in-law, the father of the kidnapped boy. After an altercation with his brother-in-law Hal, David leaves. He refuses to believe Leah is psychic and insists that she is involved with the kidnapping. So she gives him a demonstration of her abilities:

Woman in coat faces snowy cabin at night under pink sky with eyes, large yellow text reads "Seeing Things." Moody, mysterious setting.

Excerpt:

Leah hurried out of the apartment and closed the door behind her. She raced down the hall and the stairs, but David was quicker, his long strides putting him far ahead of her.

She finally caught up with him at his SUV. He'd already started it, and it idled impatiently at the curb. She opened the passenger door and climbed inside.

"I'm sorry, David. I shouldn’t have suggested this."

He turned on her, anger distorting his features. "You knew he was in this apartment all along, didn't you? Were you trying to impress me with your powers? Did your friend Detective Hampton tell you where Peterson lived, or have you been in on the kidnapping from the beginning?"

For a second she could only stare at him in stunned silence. When the shock wore off it was replaced by white hot anger. "I had no idea where Hal Peterson lived. I've never met him before in my life. How dare you accuse me of being involved with the kidnapping?"

"So I'm supposed to believe you found Peterson with your psychic powers?” He made quotes in the air with his hands. How gullible do you think I am, lady?"

"You're the one who insisted on trying this scheme."

"And you're the one who proposed it in the first place."

"Do you really believe I'm capable of kidnapping a child? That I would lie about my visions?"

"You had to be part of the kidnapping. How else could you have described him so thoroughly? And don't give me that crap about seeing him in a vision. There's no such thing as ESP."

Leah shook with anger, beyond caring what he thought of her or what she said to him. "You think there's no such thing as ESP? How would you like a little proof to the contrary? A little personal demonstration?"

She didn't wait for him to respond but instead leaned toward him and looked directly into his eyes. "You've had a recurring dream since childhood about fishing with your father. You stood up in the boat and it overturned, and you were both thrown into the lake. Your father was very angry and you felt he was always disappointed in you."

David's face drained of color, shock evident in his eyes. "How could you have known that?"

"I dreamt it the other night, after I met you at the police station. You blame yourself for Jeremy's disappearance the same way you blamed yourself for overturning the boat and losing your father's tackle box. Neither was your fault."

David clutched the steering wheel with both hands, his head shaking in disbelief. Leah immediately regretted her outburst. Then he turned to her, looking at her like she was a specimen in a freak show, something to be feared and loathed. Finally, he threw the SUV into gear and sped off, the vehicle fishtailing as he over-accelerated on the icy street.

Blurb:

When psychic Leah McKenna “sees” the abduction of a small boy, she knows she must help find him, no matter how much she longs for a normal life without visions. And no matter the danger to herself. David Logan, the boy’s uncle, doesn’t believe in psychic phenomenon. He believes Leah knows who kidnapped his nephew. He plans to stick close to her to discover the boy’s whereabouts. As they search for Jeremy, they uncover truths about themselves, the past, and the way they feel about each other. Can Leah convince David her visions, and her love for him, are real? And can they find Jeremy before time runs out for all of them?

The tension sparks and escalates between these two. I almost expected her to get out of the car or him to order her to leave!

Leah is learning to stick up for herself. This is one of my favorite scenes because she really asserts herself here. Thanks for commenting!
