Happy Wednesday! Today I have another excerpt from I'LL BE SEEING YOU. Apprentice angel Gabriel and his client Frank have travelled back in time to 1944, to when Frank made his fatal mistake with love. He walked away from the love of his life. But he never forgot Claire.
In his second trip to 1944, Frank is once again a 24 year-old-soldier. He and Gabriel communicate telepathically and no one but Frank can see Gabriel. He's able to feel Frank's emotions and feelings. In this scene, Frank and Claire meet once again and relive their first dance.

Excerpt:
The instant Frank touched Claire’s waist, a jolt of electricity nearly buckled Gabriel’s knees. The buzzing in his ears drowned out the music and the sounds of the other dancers. Gabriel closed his eyes and breathed deeply to steady himself. When he opened his eyes and glanced at Frank, he was staring at Claire, ready to bolt.
I can’t do this. Not again.
You have to. You need to know what happened.
Frank gave a slight nod, loosened his hold on her waist, and led her in the waltz.
“My name’s Claire. Claire Cartwright. What’s yours?”
“Frank Brennan.”
“Pleased to meet you, Frank. What part of America are you from?”
Frank avoided looking directly into Claire’s eyes, staring over her shoulder while they danced, desperately trying to stay detached. How was Gabriel to accomplish his goals when Frank refused to cooperate?
“Virginia.”
“That’s on the east coast of the United States, isn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“What did you do before the war?”
“I was a law student.”
Claire fell silent, and Frank continued to stare across the room. Finally, she gave a soft sigh. “I’m not sure why you asked me to dance. Obviously, you find dancing with me distasteful. Please take me back to my friends.”
They came to a standstill in the middle of the floor. But their arms were still around each other. That gave Gabriel hope.
Does it make you happy to embarrass and hurt Claire, Frank? Does it make you feel like a big man?
No. It gives me no pleasure.
Don’t just stand there. Apologize!
Frank sighed. “I don’t find dancing with you distasteful. Not at all. It’s just that…”
“What?” she prompted gently when he didn’t continue.
“I used to know a girl who looked a lot like you. She broke my heart. I guess I’m not over her.”
“I’m so sorry. Did you love her very much?”
“Yes.” Frank looked deeply into Claire’s eyes. “Yes, I loved her very much.”
“Then she was a very stupid woman.”
Frank smiled at the vehemence in her voice. Ironic that she should be angry for a hurt she caused.
