Happy New Year! Today I'm sharing an excerpt from I'LL BE SEEING YOU, book one in my upoming romantasy, time-travel romance series. I haven't set a release date yet but this three book series which I call the Twice in a Lifetime series, will be available in 2026!

In this excerpt, Sloane breaks up with Gabriel. His trust issues have kept her at arm's length despite his love for her. And he's questioned her fidelity the whole time they've been together. Finally, she has enough and says goodbye.

Red roses and a pearl necklace create a romantic backdrop. Text reads "Book Hooks" and "Marketing for Romance Writers" in elegant font.

Series Blurb:

After Gabriel Daniels’ car accident, he finds himself in a waiting room next door to Heaven. To earn his angel wings and be allowed the privilege of looking out for his loved ones back on Earth, Gabriel is tasked with giving three mortals their second chance at love. What Gabriel doesn’t count on is having to examine his own life during this process. Coming to terms with his mistakes, especially his mistakes in love, is the biggest test of his afterlife.

Blurb, I'LL BE SEEING YOU:

Apprentice angel Gabriel Daniel’s first assignment in his quest to become a full-fledged angel is to give WW2 veteran, Frank Brennan, a second chance at love. With help from his mentor, senior angel Thomas, Gabriel takes Frank back to 1944 to Plymouth, England. His first time in 1944, Frank fell in love with Claire Cartwright. Then he found her in a passionate embrace with another man and ended their relationship. He never loved anyone the same way again. This time around, Gabriel’s task is to convince Frank to trust in Claire’s love and fidelity, despite the evidence against her.

At the same time, Thomas takes Gabriel on a journey through his relationship with Sloane, the love of his mortal life. For the first time, Gabriel sees how his jealousy and distrust tainted their love.

Unless Gabriel persuades Frank to trust Claire, his goal of becoming a citizen of Heaven is doomed, along with his desire to watch over his mother and brother back on Earth. Frank has a complicated history that Gabriel must help him to confront before either of them gets what they need.

Excerpt:

Sloane closed her eyes. When she reopened them, they were filled with resignation. “I told you, I didn’t cheat. I never would. But you couldn’t believe me, no matter how many times I tried to reassure you.”

“There’s nothing I despise more than a cheater.”

“Just because your father cheated on your mother, it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen to you. Not everyone cheats, Gabriel.”

Righteous anger seethed inside him. How could she possibly understand the suffering his father’s infidelity had inflicted on him when she’d grown up in a stable family? He’d never come to terms with what happened to his family.

“You were right about one thing.” He hated himself for lashing out at her but was powerless to stop. “I don’t need you. I don’t need anyone.”

Gabriel stalked to the door and slammed it behind him as he left her apartment. He took the stairs two at a time, running out of the building and out onto the street, ignoring the heavy, wet snow that pelted him. When he reached his Lexus, he jumped inside and slumped behind the wheel, trying to catch his breath. Terror gripped him. Sloane’s left me. I’ll never see her again.

Gabriel’s breath came in frantic gasps. He couldn’t breathe. In desperation, he yanked at the ends of his bow tie and unfastened the top two buttons of his tuxedo shirt. Relief shot through him when air filled his lungs. He started the car and, with a squeal of tires, pulled away from the curb and raced down the street.

But no matter how fast he drove, he couldn’t outrun Sloane’s voice in his head.

I can’t be with you anymore.

To hell with her. He didn’t need her. He’d find another woman. A woman who’d be happy to accept a few gifts without making a big deal of it. A woman who wouldn’t ask for more than he could give.
