Today on #MFRWhooks Blog Hop, I have an excerpt from I'LL BE SEEING YOU. I call this one You Make Me Laugh. When Frank and Claire meet again for the first time in 1944 in this time-travel romance, Claire at first thinks Frank must be unpleasant, but she soon changes her mind. In this scene, they're forced to seek shelter in a church basement when the air raid sirens begin to wail.
I'LL BE SEEING YOU is book one in the Twice in a Lifetime time-travel romance series. It released March 1, 2026 and is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Excerpt:
Claire shivered, the thin material of her dress offering little protection from the cool and damp. Frank slipped off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.
“I need to find my friends,” she said, her gaze frantically darting around the room. “I need to know they’re all right.”
“I’m sure they’re here somewhere. This was the closest shelter.”
Frank’s words didn’t seem to assure her. “My father is probably still at the hospital. The bombs don’t care if they hit a hospital.”
“You can check on him as soon as you get the chance.”
“Shasta’s at home alone. She’ll be terrified.”
“Shasta?” Frank asked, though he already knew the answer.
“My cat. She hates the air raids.”
Frank gently took Claire’s chin in his hand and made her look at him. “After the all-clear, I’ll walk you home and we’ll check on your cat. Do you have a telephone at your house?”
“Yes.”
“You can call your father from home and make sure he’s fine. But first we’ll find your friends.”
“Yes. Thank you.” Claire bowed her head. “You must think me a weepy, weak female. Here you are ready to risk your life and I’m worried about a cat.”
He lifted her chin once more. “I don’t think you’re weepy or weak. I think you care very much for your friends and family and all the things you love.”
“We British are supposed to be brave and stoic. Stiff upper lip and all that. Most of the time I can muddle through, but sometimes I can’t bear it.” Her eyes filled with tears. “I’m so tired, Frank. I’m tired of war, I’m tired of the senseless killing and the destruction, and I’m tired of being afraid.”
“I know, sweetheart.”
Frank pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her. Her arms locked about his waist, and her head rested against his chest. The frantic beat of Frank’s heart pounded inside Gabriel’s head, and he knew the other man wanted to comfort and protect her. He wanted to stay like this with her forever.
But the moment didn’t last. Claire soon composed herself and pulled out of his embrace. He reluctantly let her go.
“Thank you,” she said. “You’ve been very kind.”
“It was nothing.”
Claire began to look around once more. The church basement was crowded with people. “I need to find my friends.”
“I should find my friend Hal, too. I hope he came to this shelter.”
“Yes, I hope everyone did.” She gave him a sudden, brilliant smile. “When I first saw you in the Rose and Rooster you scowled at me so fiercely, it almost made me laugh. I thought you must be a very unpleasant man. But you’re not. You’re lovely.”
Gabriel saw the blush that rose on Frank’s face. “No, I’m not.”
She chuckled as she removed his jacket and returned it to him. “I think I’m starting to enjoy that scowl of yours.”

Blurb:
Apprentice angel Gabriel Daniel’s first assignment in his quest to become a full-fledged angel is to give WW2 veteran, Frank Brennan, a second chance at love. With help from his mentor, senior angel Thomas, Gabriel takes Frank back to 1944 to Plymouth, England. There, Frank made his biggest mistake with love. He fell in love with Claire Cartwright, but when he found her kissing another man, he ended their relationship, despite Claire’s insistence that things weren’t as they appeared. This time around, Gabriel’s task is to convince Frank to trust in Claire’s love and fidelity, despite the evidence against her.
At the same time, Thomas takes Gabriel on a journey through his relationship with Sloane, the love of his mortal life. For the first time, Gabriel sees how his jealousy and distrust tainted their love.
Unless Gabriel persuades Frank to trust Claire, his goal of becoming a citizen of Heaven is doomed, along with his desire to watch over his mother and brother back on Earth. Frank has a complicated history that Gabriel must help him confront before either of them gets what they need.
